Patriarch Theofilos the Patmian of Alexandria and All Africa extolled for his role in Greek Revolution
The Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, His Most Divine Beatitude Theodoros II, over the weekend spoke on a major figure of the Patriarchate, Patriarch Theofilos the Patmian, who played a pivotal role during the Greek Revolution, which began in March 1821.
Speaking during the Sunday of Orthodoxy service at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos, in Alexandria, and before a congregation that included diplomats and ethnic Greek community leaders, the Patriarch of All Africa extolled the role and character of his predecessor, whom Prince Alexandros Ipsilantis called “the pride of patriarchs, the glory of the race and the support of Greece”.
