The President and First Lady of Malta, George and Miriam Vella, attended the Agape Vespers celebrated on Resurrection Sunday at the Romanian Orthodox Parish in Valletta.
The high officials were welcomed by the children of the parish with bread and salt and sat through the whole service, which was celebrated in Romanian, Maltese and English.
The President greeted the community of Orthodox from Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, as well as the faithful of other nationalities who attended the service, wishing them happy holidays.
His Excellency underlined the excellent integration of the Romanian community in Malta, and appreciated the fact that they value the church received for use from the Catholic Archdiocese of Malta.
There was also an egg-cracking competition, won by the President of Malta.
The Romanian community in Malta offered the presidential couple an Orthodox icon of the Resurrection of the Lord and signed the parish’s Book of Honour.
Earlier this afternoon we had the pleasure of joining members of the Orthodox community in Malta for the Orthodox Easter celebration at the Romanian Orthodox Church in Valletta.
Once again, I wish them all a joyful day, full of peace and unity. pic.twitter.com/G1tkBmPg9X
