Αn unusual artifact was recently discovered by archaeologists in Moscow, namely, a wooden Crucifix bearing the image of the patron saint of students in Russia – St. Sergius of Radonezh.

The wooden cross was found during excavations near Zaryadye Park and the Moscow River.

The cross dates from the late 17th to early 18th century. On its front side, a Crucifixion is carved, and on the reverse is a figure of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
