Second Youth Conference of the Holy Metropolis of Pisidia

Over the weekend of 8–9 November 2025, the Second Youth Conference of the Holy Metropolis of Pisidia took place in Side (Manavgat), with the theme “Christ as the Way to an Authentic Relationship.”

Around 100 participants from across the Holy Metropolis of Pisidia, the Archdiocese of Constantinople, and the Metropolis of Kalamaria and Nea Krini, as well as three seminarians from the Rizarios Ecclesiastical School’s Training Program for Clerical Candidates, took part on the morning of Saturday, 8 November 2025, in the Divine Liturgy celebrated at the Church of the Apostle Paul, which included explanatory commentary. During breakfast that followed, Fr. Ioannis demonstrated the baking of the prosphoron, while His Eminence Metropolitan Job of Pisidia presided.

That afternoon, Hieromonk Nikolaos Zakharov from the Patriarchal and Stavropegic Monastery of St John the Baptist in Essex, England, delivered the keynote address, analysing the conference theme. He began with an interpretation of his topic and then focused on the mystery of marriage as the restoration of the image of God in humanity, created male and female. The participants later discussed the topic in small groups and then in plenary sessions. The first day concluded with Vespers, Matins, and a festive dinner.

On the following day, during the Sunday Divine Liturgy, the local Bishop presided with clergy from Antalya, Alanya, and Side, together with Hieromonk Nikolaos Zakharov and Fr. Nikodimos Saudam from the Holy Trinity Parish of Constantinople.

On the same day, Mr. Elias Kriaz was tonsured as a reader. The morning continued with breakfast accompanied by music performed by the youth of the Parish of Side, followed by an iconography workshop presented by Mr. Ioakeim Koumousis, a fine arts student from Athens.

The youth conference opened with a patriarchal message addressed to the participants and concluded with a visit to the archaeological site of Side, where Christianity was first spread through the preaching of the Apostle Paul. The conference ended in a joyful and uplifting atmosphere, with the young participants expressing their hope that the Holy Metropolis would organise similar conferences in the future.
