On Sunday, October 11, the Circle of Serbian Sisters at the parish of St. John the Baptist in Dapt, celebrated its glory – the Protection of the Most Holy Mother of God.

The Holy Hierarch’s Liturgy was served by His Eminence Bishop Mr. Siluan, with the assistance of archpriests-staurophores Ilija Dragosavljević and Ljupko Čubrilović and deacon Miloš.

In his sermon, the Bishop pointed out that Christ performed a miracle on the Lake of Gennesaret, which established his apostles in the faith, in Him as the Messiah. When the apostles, according to the word of Christ, after the whole night without a catch, threw nets into the depths, they pulled out a lot of fish. As fishermen, they knew that this was not an ordinary moment, nor a coincidence, but that they were in the presence of the Messiah. According to Simon’s reaction, we see that when we feel the greatness of God, His love, His nearness, then we actually see and see ourselves that we are sinners, but at the same time we have strength and comfort in the Lord who will make our soul get that great spiritual catch. all that is unclean, and to know the Lord, to rejoice and be reborn to follow the Lord.
May today’s Gospel be a lesson to us that, despite our worries and temptations, in a spiritual sense, let us come out of the shallows into the depths and look at life more deeply and imitate the apostles who followed Christ.

After the last prayer, the feast cake was cut. The hosts of the celebration this year were Živorad and Persa Radojičić, and the celebration for the next year was taken over by the opponent Drina.

The Holy Liturgy was followed by a service in the parish hall, which was prepared by the members of the Circle of Serbian Sisters. Archpriest Ljupko cordially thanked everyone who participated in the preparation of the celebration this year, and the Bishop cordially greeted all those present and emphasized that it is important to live according to the dignity that God has determined for man on earth, that is. to be His icon here in time and space, sons and daughters of God here on earth, and in order to be that, we must be in a relationship with God, and through that relationship in communion with each other, and that happens at the Holy Liturgy and in Churches.

The Bishop especially greeted the youth who gathered today, emphasizing that Christ is the greatest value in our lives, because he is the Way, the Truth and the Life, and without Him, no life is worth living. He brings real meaning to life. That is why you should be here, this is your home, your church, your place of encounter with God, with the saints, with the ancestors, with the heritage of Saint Sava.
