Special session on new charter for Archdiocese of America dominates Wednesday’s sessions at 46th Clergy-Laity Congress in NYC

The Archdiocese of America’s 46th Clergy-Laity Congress in New York City is expected to conclude today.
On Wednesday, a special session entitled “The Vision of the Second Centennial: The Charter of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America” dominated the day’s sessions.
In his address to assembled clergymen, the Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros, noted, among others, that “… I would like to reaffirm to you my personal commitment to your security vis-à-vis the pension and to your security in respect to the Charter developments. You are clergy of a unified Archdiocese, under the Mother Church of Constantinople. Your interests and the interests of your families are a priority to me and to the institution of the Archdiocese.”
His Eminence also expressed the Archdiocese’s satisfaction with the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople’s desire to grant the former a new Charter.
