The feast of Saint Isaac the Syriac in Doha
The memory of our Holy and God-bearing father Isaac the Syriac, who practiced in Qatar, was celebrated again this year in the Doha Cathedral with all ecclesiastical splendor and solemnity.
On Thursday, October 10, 2024, the great solemn Vespers was presided over by the Most Reverend Archbishop Makarios of Qatar, with the blessing of bread. The hymns were sung by the choir of the Holy Church in Arabic, Greek, and Slavonic. After the end of Vespers, a pre-festal banquet was held, attended by the clergy and members of the flock.
On Friday, October 11, 2024, the Matins and the Divine Liturgy were presided over by the Most Reverend Archbishop Makarios of Qatar, with con-celebrant the cross-bearer Priest Michael Theocharidis, with the participation of the numerous pious flock, the Ambassador of Greece Mr Ioannis Ioannidis, the Ambassador of Russia, Mr Dmitry Dogadkin, the new Ambassador of Cyprus, Mr Andreas Nikolaidis, the Acting Ambassador of Georgia, Mr Teimuraz Kereselidze, and the Acting Ambassador of Serbia, Mr Alexander Petrovich Petrovic. After the solemn Divine Liturgy, the Holy Icon of Saint Isaac of Syria procession took place and a treat followed in the new reception hall.
