After the contrite fasting period of the Dormition, the Feast was celebrated in ecclesiastical brilliance in the Emirate of Qatar.
On Tuesday evening, August 14/27, 2018, there was a six-hour Vigil, with Great Vespers and the Blessing of Bread, Matins, and the Lamentations of Theotokos according to the order of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, followed by the Episcopal Divine Liturgy. Co-celebrants to His Eminence Makarios were the visiting Archimandrite Nicodemus from the Holy Metropolis of Didimotiho, and the ministering Priests of the H. Church of Saint Isaac, Saint George and Saint Makarios of Jerusalem. The Vigil was attended by many faithful who prayed in respect and reverence to the Most Holy Mother of God.
