Traditional wooden churches of Cluj region in need in preservation, restoration efforts

More than 80 wooden churches found in the Cluj region of Romania include ones designated as historical monuments in the country.

Nevertheless, six of the wooden churches are now in danger of permanent damage, and need urgent restoration.

According to an official with the Romanian center for preservation and promotion of traditional culture, every decade or so one of the wooden churches is threatened by fire or is sold.
