(VIDEO) The Archbishop of Australia on the 70 Years activity of Sunday Schools in New South Wales
With the blessing and presence of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the Sunday Schools of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in New South Wales will celebrate 70 years since their establishment with a special Anniversary Concert, to be held on Sunday, 14 December 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Sports and Performing Arts Centre of St Spyridon College, located in the Sydney suburb of Maroubra.
The concert will bring together children, families, clergy, and communities to honour seven decades of Sunday School ministry dedicated to the children of our Church.
The evening will include presentations by the children of Sunday Schools from across New South Wales, under the central theme “With Christ and His Saints.” Everyone is warmly invited to attend this joyful and historic event.
In his message, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios invites all to take part in the event on 14 December 2025, emphasising that for the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, the Sunday Schools form a vital part of its pastoral mission. “The local Church,” he notes, “strives to sow in the hearts of our young people the seed of the Gospel and of Christ, so that this seed may bear fruit, not only for the Church but above all for society. Society needs good Christian families; society needs good Christians.”
His Eminence expresses his gratitude to all those who labour in the Sunday School ministry of the Holy Archdiocese, congratulates the children for their participation, and thanks their parents for the trust they show in the Sunday Schools. He also speaks with great affection and gratitude about Father Stephanos Pantanassiotis, who was a pioneer in this spiritual work of the local Church.
