Wonder-working Holy Icon of Panaghia Soumela conveyed to Athens’ St. Demetrios Cathedral of Ambelokipi

The faithful in Athens on Tuesday joyously and solemnly greeted the arrival of the wonder-working icon of the Panaghia Soumela, which was conveyed from the dedicated Monastery of Mt. Vermio, in northern Greece, in a splendorous procession to the St. Demetrios Cathedral in the Ambelokipi district of Athens
The Holy Icon was conveyed by the Metropolitan of Veria, Naousa and Kampania, His Eminence Panteleimon, and welcomed on the part of Archbishop Ieronymos by the Bishop of EvRIpou, His Grace Chrysostomos.

The Holy Icon will remain at the St. Demetrios Cathedral for veneration by the faithful and clergy until Oct. 28.
