Patriarch Kirill returns after bout with Covid-19 to chair Holy Synod of Russian Orthodox Church

Members of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church convened on Thursday at the Patriarchal and Synodal Residence, located at the St. Daniel Monastery in Moscow, under the chairmanship of Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Holiness Kirill.
The Russian Patriarch returned to the forefront nearly two weeks after testing positive for the Covid-19 virus.

According to reports conveyed from the meeting, Patriarch Kirill noted that “…the Holy Synod convenes at a time that cannot be called peaceful…Therefore the task of the Church, which has always been and will always be a peace-making force, is to ease the existing tension through its prayers, its work and its positive influence on society, and to do everything within its power to mitigate the conflicts that can lead to unpredictable consequences.”
