Cyprus: Thronal Feast Day of the Holy Metropolis of Tamassos
On Sunday, 17 September 2023, the memory of the Holy Hieromartyr Herakleidis was brilliantly celebrated at the Holy Monastery of Saint Herakleidis in Politiko, Nicosia Province.
The festive Hierarchical Divine Liturgy was presided over by His Beatitude Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus, and co-celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos and His Eminence Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamassos and Oreini.
The Hierarchs were also joined by Archimandrite Athinodoros Papaevriviadis, Archimandrite Dimitrianos Petsas and Archimandrite Sophronios Vardikidis, the Archdeacons Father Michael Nikolaou and Father Raphael Misiaoulis, and the Hierodeacon Father Arsenios Athanasiou.
The Holy Sermon was delivered by His Beatitude Archbishop Georgios, who analysed the Gospel passage of the day and referred to the person of Saint Herakleides whose memory was the centre of the celebrations.
The nuns of the Holy Monastery brightened the feast day celebration with their chanting of the holy hymns.
Before the Dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, the feast day Koliva were blessed by His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos.
Present also for the feast day celebrations and Divine Liturgy were the Director General of the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry of Cyprus, Mr. Marios Panagidis, the Professor of Linguistics, Mr. Georgios Babiniotis, the Professor of Ecclesiastical Canon Law of the School of Law, Archon Asikretis of the Great Church of Christ, Mr. Anastasios Vavouskos, and the President of the Community Council of Politiko, Mr. Ioannis Kitsios.
